Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure used to treat infection or damage to the pulp (the innermost part of the tooth), which can cause pain and lead to the loss of the tooth if left untreated. The goal of root canal treatment is to save the tooth by removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and then filling and sealing the tooth. Elite Dental Clinic provides the following:
- Diagnosis: We examine the tooth and may take X-rays to determine the extent of the infection or damage.
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used to numb the area around the tooth to ensure that the procedure is pain-free.
- Access: We shall create a small opening in the tooth to access the pulp chamber and root canals.
- Cleaning and shaping: The infected or damaged pulp is removed from the pulp chamber and root canals using special instruments. The root canals are then cleaned and shaped to remove any bacteria and debris.
- Filling: Once the root canals are cleaned and shaped, they are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha to seal them and prevent further infection..
