Dental Bridging
Dental bridging, also known as a dental bridge, is a common dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) that are supported by crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap.
There are several categories of dental bridges carried out at Elite Dental Clinic based on their design and the way they are supported:
- Traditional Dental Bridge: This is the most common type of dental bridge and consists of one or more pontics (artificial teeth) that are held in place by dental crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap. The crowns are cemented onto the natural teeth, providing support for the bridge.
- Cantilever Dental Bridge: In this type of bridge, the pontic is supported by a dental crown on only one side of the gap. Cantilever bridges are used when there is only one natural tooth next to the gap.
- Maryland Dental Bridge (Resin-Bonded Bridge): This type of bridge consists of a pontic that is attached to the adjacent teeth with metal or porcelain wings bonded to the back of the teeth. Maryland bridges are less invasive than traditional bridges because they require minimal preparation of the adjacent teeth.
